Our beloved Marguerite Ann Diffee passed away peacefully on November 14, 2023 at the age of 91 with her children at her side. "Maggie" was born June 23, 1932 to George and Marguerite Mehlek and raised in Syracuse, NY.
Maggie graduated from Nursing School, enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Orlando, FL. There she met her husband, Hugh David Diffee "Diff" also in the USAF. Together they had three children, traveled to Japan, the Philippines and other military bases in the US. They spent many of their years stationed in Homestead and remained after Diff's retirement. Maggie worked at James Archer Smith Hospital from 1966 -1980's and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration from FIU in 1975. She also worked as a nurse for Norwegian Cruise Line in the Caribbean and Swan Hellenic Cruise Lines in Europe. Maggie loved the opportunity this provided to continue her passion for world travel and meeting new friends. After Hurricane Andrew, Maggie moved to Stuart, FL and resided there for 27 years. She returned to Homestead in 2019 and lived at The Palace Gardens with her cat Lucy.
Maggie lived her life loving and caring for family and friends. She would certainly cheer up anyone with her delicious home cooked meals and baked goods. Maggie loved sharing her passion for baking with the three generations of her family. We will always cherish our times at Estero Island walking the beach and watching the sunset together with family and friends. Maggie was loved by many and brightened up a room with her beautiful blue eyes and smile. We will always carry your love and memory in our hearts.
Maggie is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Arve (Michael) and her sons, David Diffe and Michael (Joan) Diffee. She is survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh David "Diff", and one grandchild, Michael “Chad” Diffee.
Funeral Mass and Interment will be at a later date in Williston, TN alongside Diff and Chad.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for all the prayers, phone calls, visits and many other acts of kindness shown during the time of Maggie’s passing. We will be forever grateful for the loving care and support Maggie and our family received from the entire staff at The Palace Gardens and Opus Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Air Force Enlisted Village, Tunnels to Towers, or the charity of your choice.
