We are very sorry to report that our dear friend Gary Horne passed away on June 26, 2014 after a lengthy battle
with cancer.
We were honored to have Gary in our company since 1986, just short of 28 years. He was one of the best, if not
the very best operator I have ever known. Whenever we needed something special, we called on Gary. He
always made it happen. More importantly, he was one of the finest people I have ever met. Gary could
always make us smile or laugh. His imitations of Sam or Steve Torcise Sr., Lee Lovelace are legend.
During his battle, I was able to speak to him many times. He was always strong, vigilant, cheerful and positive.
He made the day special and bright. And every time he would let me know about coming back to work very
soon, a place he enjoyed beyond words. Not once did Gary say he didn't think he was coming back. It was
always next week. Gary's strength and courage was something so immense and special it cannot be
described. We will miss him every single day.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife Judith Nanette Horne; sons, Gary Lynn Horne, Jr. and Kyle James;
brothers, William L. Horne (Grace), Brian Russel Horne and Dexter Lee Horne, Jr.; and sisters, Karen Sue
Glover (Bradley) and Sherry Lou Townsend Horne.
Services were held Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Palms Woodlawn Funeral Home at 27100 Old Dixie Highway,
Naranja, FL, 305-247-4218, www.palmswoodlawn.com.
Please keep Gary and his family in your prayers.
