Nancy P. Forney, formerly known as Nancy P. George, 98, passed away on June 1, 2015 (one day short of her 99th birthday) at the Lutheran Home in Napoleon. She had resided there for many years, first in the Bavarian Village, then the Alpine Village, and finally in the Lutheran Home. She was born in Napoleon on June 2, 1916 to the late Okee and Etta Palmer. Nancy was a graduate of Napoleon High School and the Fort Wayne International Business College. After many years of being a homemaker and assisting her husband, Richard, in his feed mill business, she worked for the former Fraker Manufacturing Co., served as secretary in the Elm Street Elementary School, and as a copy editor in the advertising dept. of the Fulton Co. Expositor. She married Richard George on March 9, 1937 and he preceded her in death in January of 1989. She later married Dale Forney in September of 1993 and he preceded her in death in 1999. Nancy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Napoleon, a former member of the First Christian Church in Wauseon, former member of the D.A.R., and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 67 in Wauseon.
She is survived by her children, James (Margaret) George, Joanne (Rene) Moquin, and Thomas (Priscilla) George; Grandchildren, Stanley (Konnie) George, Rick (Summer) George, Angela (Benny) Moquin, Michelle (Allen) Dye, Jenny (Kirk) Bach, Steve (Becca) George, and David (Stephanie) George, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandson, Michael George, sister, Sarah Palmer Dickey; and husbands, Richard George and Dale Forney.
The family will greet friends at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in Napoleon, where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., after which all are invited to a fellowship luncheon in the church basement. Burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery following the meal.
