William Joseph Snyder

William (Bill) Joseph Snyder, age 78 passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 21, 2023. Bill was born in Pittsburgh, PA to William Robert Snyder (deceased) and Marie Antoinette Snyder (deceased).

Bill was married to Carol Zipay Snyder (deceased). He is survived by daughters Darcy (Stephen) Eid and Lori Snyder Shipman; brother Gary (Cecile) Snyder and sister Janice Snyder; grandchildren Cole Shipman, Gabby Eid, Sarah Shipman, Elizabeth Eid and Sam Shipman; and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill resided with his family in Murrysville PA, Estero FL and most recently Leesburg VA. Bill graduated from Penn Hills High School in Pittsburgh and went on to play football at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a degree in secondary education. He later pursued a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Bill’s career was dedicated to teaching middle school science and coaching many sports at his high school alma mater until his retirement.

Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to spend time in the mountains of northern Pennsylvania with family and lifelong friends. Bill had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying airplanes. He also enjoyed golfing. Bill was affectionately known as Clark Griswold in the family and was always up for an adventure. Bill would never pass up an Italian meal including rigatoni, meatballs and good bread. Artichokes and cannoli anyone? Bill’s mantra: “Leave no stone unturned.”

A graveside service and burial will be held on May 4, 2023 at 11am at Naples Memorial Gardens (Hodges Funeral Home) in Naples, FL.
