He spent much of his early childhood in Southern California but moved back to Elkhart where he attended Concord High School. He was a scholarship gymnast at Indiana State University graduating in 1966. He settled in Elkhart and began his working career as a middle school science teacher at Jimtown Middle School. He transitioned to a career in the recreational vehicle industry starting out as an hourly worker in the cabinet shop and working his way up to an executive position at Coachmen Industries. He served in multiple managerial roles over the years at Coachmen culminating to a position as president of the Shasta RV division. In his later career he joined as a partner at Dicor, Inc. a recreational vehicle supplier in Elkhart.
In 2011 after a long and successful career, he retired to Bonita Springs, FL to pursue sun and golf. Throughout his life he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed water sports, motorcycles, piloting small planes and travel. On most weekends he could be found at his lake cottage in Union, MI where he loved sailing and water skiing. In his retirement life he became an avid golfer and doting grandfather.
He is survived by his spouse Sherri (Tyler) Snook of Bonita Springs, FL. He is also survived by his sons Dr. Russell (Dr. Erica) Snook of Irving TX, and Dr. Riley (Elizabeth) Snook of Indianapolis as well as 3 grandchildren, and his former spouse Holly Snook of Goshen. In addition, he is survived by a sister, Nancy (Snook) Warfel who resides in Tacoma, WA.
Bill will be remembered by his sense of humor, his adventurous spirit, and his passion for the sporting life. He was a great friend to many and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 9, 2016 at 2 pm at Bay Presbyterian Church 26911 S Bay Dr, Bonita Springs, FL 34134
