Born on June 21, 1935 in Zanesville, Oh , she was the only child of Ralph Dorsey Wirick and Eva Carson Wirick, [ both of Zanesville, Oh.] Sharon graduated from Hopewell High School in 1953 where she was a cheerleader, majorette and played the trumpet in the band. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in Elementary Education and later earned her Masters Degree from Florida Atlantic University in Early Childhood Development.
Sharon was a beloved teacher for over 40 years to her many, many students and touched many lives. Her four children were her favorite students and she was a devoted mother. By example, Sharon taught them how to be kind, compassionate and loving. Her faith in The Lord was strong and now she is with her Heavenly Father.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph & Eva Wirick. She is survived by her loving children and their families: Kip (Mary Jane) Wilson of Naples, FL; Kori (Don) Woodring of Murphy, NC; Kurt (Kim) Wilson of Bonita Springs, FL and Kyle (Lisa) Wilson of Naples, FL. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren whom she loved & adored more than anything in this world. Sammie Jo, Randi & Jorgia Wilson (Kip’s girls) – Jack & Todd Wilson (Kurt’s boys) – Taylor & Gracie Wilson (Kyle’s kids).
Sharon loved everyone. She was always energetic, fun & lived a full life. Her passion was teaching, but she had many interests that kept her always “on the go” – she enjoyed music, travelling, the beach, sewing, dancing, decorating, golfing and was an avid Buckeye fan.
A Celebration of Life for Sharon will be held on Sat., March 19, 2016 at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens – 525 111th Ave N., Naples, FL from 12:00 Noon-2:00 PM. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM.
