Mr. Hill a Naples, Florida resident, was born in Toronto, Canada. As a child he lived in Toronto, Winnipeg and London, Ontario. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1956 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1957 he married Barbara Isabel Stott. The family lived in Montreal, Winnipeg and Toronto before immigrating to the United States in 1968. Until 1979 he lived in Ridgewood NJ and worked in NYC. The family then moved to Lewiston NY where they remained until moving to Naples in 1994.
Mr. Hill’s working career revolved around the electric utility industry where he was a specialist in process controls. He was a licensed Professional Engineer. The later part of his career he was a consultant to the industry.
He was a member of The Naples Players, where he was active on stage and back stage. He enjoyed barbershop singing. His most notable role was Uncle Jocko in the 2014 performance of Gypsy. He received the Naples Players Luminary award for his service to the theatre. He was a licensed pilot and airplane owner. He and his wife Barbara were members of Wyndemere Country Club.
His wife Barbara Hill died in January 2016. He is survived by his three children, Jennifer (Marc) Holterman of Hamilton Ontario, Suzanne (Douglas) Angle of Sydenham, Ontario, and Andrew (Dr. Susan Liberski) Hill of Naples, Grandfather to Kendra (Michel) Lavallee, Benjamin (Lindsey) Angle, Heather Angle, James and Janna Lees Holterman; and Great Grandfather to Jaelynn and Carolynn Lavallee, and his two cats; Melvin and Audrey.
A memorial service will be held at Naples United Church of Christ, 5200 Crayton Road, Naples, Florida on Sunday, January 13th at 2pm. Reception will follow.
