Peter Conley Jarvis, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Chatham, New Jersey and Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, January 11th, 2023. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin on April 11, 1937, and was raised in Stoughton, Wisconsin. Peter graduated from Stoughton High School and then went on to play college football at Iowa, due to a leg injury he transferred to Loras College in Iowa and graduated with a degree in economics.
After college, Peter served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He then married Phyllis Antoinette, aka “Toni” DeToro, on September 24, 1960, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They were happily married for 36 years until her passing.
Peter enjoyed a stellar corporate career, as vice president of sales and marketing for Johnson & Johnson, the Personal Products Division. He retired after 27 years of dedicated service. Thereafter, Peter became President of Dawes Transport Company. He eventually fully retired and moved to Naples, Florida with his wife in 1996. Peter was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who provided a wonderful life for his family.
Peter was an avid sports enthusiast from a young age throughout his life, with a passion for playing and watching all sports, especially football (Green Bay Packers), basketball (Milwaukee Bucks), baseball (NY Yankees) and PGA golf. He was a ferocious reader and was partial to business publications and Tom Clancy books. In retirement he loved to play golf, tennis, boat and spend time with family and friends. Retirement in Naples gave Peter time to further travel the world and enjoy life.
Peter is survived by his children; daughter Kathy (Greg) Reisdorf, his son Chris (Jill) Jarvis, his son Andrew (Rosie) Jarvis, his daughter Jennifer (Dave) Urness and his son Michael Jarvis.
He is also survived by his nine grandchildren Taylor, Madison, Ricardo, Ryan, Jonathan, Samantha, Ethan, Olivia and Aaron.
He is preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Toni Jarvis, 2nd wife Georgia Jarvis, his brothers Robin Jarvis and Kim Jarvis and his parents Robert and Beatrice Jarvis.
Peter was bigger than life and lived life to the fullest. He will be remembered as an incredible father and grandfather “Papa”.
A Celebration Mass will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, January 21st at St. John’s Evangelist Catholic Church, guests may begin to arrive at 11:30am (625 111th Ave. N, Naples FL 34108).
