Patricia A Morrison, a long-time southwest Florida resident, passed away November 19, 2023 at the age of 90. She exits this life with what can only be described as a life well lived with many varied and adventurous experiences..
She was born in Kansas City, Missouri as the oldest of four children of Grover and Dolly Feiring. In 1954, she married Fred Morrison. At the time, he was an apprentice machinist, but it was not long before he switched to real estate and became an entrepreneur. Patricia, “Patty” to all who knew her, was his constant support, playing an active role as decorator, landscape designer, and sounding board. Their adventures together included working on the development of Marco Island in the early 1960’s, Devil’s Nest in Nebraska, Carefree in Arizona, and many other ventures. In the 1970’s, they opened and operated The Levy, a very popular restaurant in Ft. Myers.
Patty was a beautiful person, inside and out. She managed to blend grace and dignity with a down-to-earth adventurous and playful spirit. She could often be seen playing with her grandchildren or the neighborhood kids. She was known for building tree houses with the kids one day and the next hosting a variety of world leaders for dinner. She was also a licensed pilot, certified scuba diver, world traveler, and mother figure to many.
After Fred’s passing in 2003, she became deeply involved in the Naples Council on World Affairs for many years. She served on their board of directors and participated in the model UN and student abroad programs. Patty was also an active participant and leader with the great books reading programs. She was always busy.
After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2015, she began to slow down and experienced what is often called The Long Goodbye. Throughout her struggles, she managed to remain positive and courteous in her last years.
Patty leaves behind her two children. Andy (and Carol) Morrison of Naples, and Beth (and Randy) Martin of Naples and Kauai, HI. She also leaves many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, as well as many who considered her ‘Mom’.
Per her request there will be no services. The family suggests donations to AVOW hospice or the Naples Council on World Affairs. We consider her passing a tragic blessing. This remarkable lady is now at peace.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hodgesfhatnaplesmg.com for the Morrison family.
