Michael F. Shanley, 82, of Naples, FL passed away at his residence on March 21, 2025 with his beloved wife by his side. He was born on December 13, 1942 in Chicago, IL the son of Frank and Anne Shanley.
On August 30, 1969 Mike married Dianne Stack. Mike and Dianne met at Arthur Young (now Ernst & Young). The firm sent them to Paris, France in 1981 for five years and to Luxembourg City, Luxembourg in 1998 for three years. They returned to the USA in October 2001 when they moved to Naples, FL as snowbirds. Mike retired as a partner at Ernst & Young, CPA’s.
Mike and Dianne travelled extensively, both during their overseas assignments and when they were permanently back in the States. Mike loved to hike and golf. He climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa when he was 69 years old in 2012 after he and Dianne did a wildlife safari. They did other great trips to Cambodia and Vietnam, Cuba, and various places in Europe.
Mike was preceded in death by his brothers: Peter, John (late wife Mary), and Jim (late wife Donna), and his nephew Edward.
He is survived by his wife Dianne Shanley, nephew Raymond (wife Debbie Rafael) and Jim’s special friend, Bonnie Doolittle. Mike has English Springer Spaniel dogs: Milo, Nigel, Murphy Brown, and Darcie to greet him at The Rainbow Bridge.
A Memorial Service will be held, Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108. Friends may gather from 10-11AM prior to the service.
