Mary Arter Gillespie

Mary Arter Gillespie, 91, Naples passed away peacefully on December 25, 2018. She was born July 24, 1927 to the late William and Norma Arter. She was a native of and educated in Toledo, Ohio. She was employed in the steel industry in Ohio, working for Electric Auto Lite Co., and Interlake Steel.

After moving to Naples in 1954, she worked for Lee County Metal and Roofing Co., which was owned and operated by her in-laws Vaughn and Dorothy Gillespie. She started her banking career in 1961 at First National Bank and Trust Co., in downtown Naples. She retired in 1991 after dedicating over 30 years as an Administrative Assistant to five presidents. She later worked as a non-instructional substitute teacher in the Collier County School System.

Friends and family will remember her as loving, caring, and always giving of herself. She cherished her later years spending time with her family, as well as, gardening, trains, and traveling.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donn M. Gillespie; brother, William J. Arter; sister, Kathleen A. Fletcher, both of Toledo Ohio; and son in law, Larry Lewis.

She is survived by her daughter Christine G. Lewis; grandsons, Andrew P. (Righton) Lewis, and Cameron W. Lewis; great grandson, Lawton Gray Lewis

She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Naples Memorial Gardens at a private family service.
