She was born February 1, 1947 in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of Shirley and George Miller. She was the oldest of 4 siblings. On November 16, 1968, she married Alex Klein, who died May 10, 2015.
Marlene graduated from Hunter College in New York, where she met her future husband, Alex. Marlene had a variety of jobs after her graduation, including helping her husband run his marketing research company. She also at one point owned her own plant nursery, selling exotic varieties of plants, as well as a company selling her own designs of handknit sweaters. Marlene excelled at most things that she set her mind to, including cooking, gardening, knitting and mahjong.
Marlene is survived by her son Craig Robert Klein and daughter-in-law, Mary Klein of Naples, FL and daughter Elissa Klein of Oakland, CA, as well as her grandchildren Emily Sarah Klein and Hannah Margaret Klein of Naples, FL and Eli Joaquin Arriaga Klein and Axel Zachariah Arriaga Klein of Oakland, CA. She is also survived by her siblings Joel Miller of Fort Lee, NJ, Alan Miller of Long Island, NY and Wendy Miller of Fort Lee, NJ.
A service will be held on Wednesday, May 19th at 3pm at Hodges Funeral Home in Naples, FL for family and close friends.
