Marjorie Agnes Whalen

Born June 2, 1924, Marjorie grew up in Worcester Massachusetts. She met the love of her life James Whalen when she was 14 when he ran over her fingers while roller skating. They married in 1945 when James returned home from WWII after serving 3 years with the Army Air Corp Bomber Group in Wendling Air Base in England. She leaves behind her two children Stephen Martin (Megan) Whalen of Naples, Florida and daughter, Nancy (Joe) Parsons of San Ramon, California. She also leaves 5 grandchildren, Joshua Whalen of Newport, R.I., Tyese (Tim) Bohan, and great grandson Finian Bohan of Portsmouth, VA as well as granddaughter Katie (Jason) Parsons Hoschouer, great granddaughters Faith, Josie and Lydia and granddaughter Elizabeth (Jamie) Porter, and great grandson Max. She was preceded in death by granddaughter Amber Whalen.

Margie worked for the General Electric Co until she retired in 1985. She and her husband moved to Plymouth, CA for a change of scenery upon retiring. Margie lost her loving husband of 55 years and moved to Naples, FL in 2006. She loved playing scrabble and doing water aerobics with her many friends at Hunters Ridge Golf and Country Club in Florida. Outgoing to the end, she would stop at every table at restaurants to say hello and make new friends. As an avid reader, nothing made her happier than getting a new book! She loved her church, St. Agnes of Naples and looked forward to mass and a strawberry waffle from Skillets each Sunday! Warm and caring she would tell everyone who knew her how much she loved them. She had so many friends you would lose count. Her warm smile and her happy disposition will not be forgotten by the many who loved her. She was especially happy that she could see her daughter and her grandchildren as well as witnessing her only son get married to Megan Wendling in December of last year. She will be missed by many.
