Linda Ann Phillips, age 80, passed away on August 20, 2023 at her home in Naples, FL. For five years, she battled a rare brain disease called PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). She is an inspiration of strength and determination in coping with this painful, debilitating disease which has no known cause and no known cure.
She is survived by her blended family: her husband of 11 years, Jack Phillips; her son, Chris MacRitchie and his wife Jennifer and their children, Madison, Maxwell and Wilson; her son, Matt MacRitchie and his wife Jennifer and their children, Paige and Aiden. And by Jack’s family; his son, Fred Phillips and his wife Erin and their children, Jackson, Sydney, and Mason; his son, Joseph Phillips and his wife Tiffany.
Linda was born in Toledo, OH and attended Rogers High School. Smart and active, she was a cheerleader, in French Club, and Honors Society. She finished at Walled Lake High School and was recognized as a National Merit Scholar. Linda graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Literature. She was Chair of the Toledo Hospital Guild, Chair of the Spring Weekend for the University of Michigan, Board Member of the ProMedica Continuum Care Board, and was an active supporter of many community organizations like the Toledo Zoo. Linda belonged to Inverness Club, Toledo; Stone Oak Country Club, Holland; and Quail Creek Country Club, Naples.
Linda loved doing special things for family and friends whether it was dinner parties, decorating for Christmas, golf lessons for the grandkids, or making her signature cookies, Key Lime pie, or super hoagies. She also enjoyed traveling. Linda and Jack created many great memories traveling around the world together and with friends.
Services will be held at the Chapel of North Naples Methodist Church, 6000 Goodlette Rd N, Naples, FL 34109 at 11:00am on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
