Laverne Distad

LaVerne was the second daughter born to Hazel (Graham) and Clyde Chambers, and she resided for most of her life in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. A 1948 graduate of Chagrin Falls High School, she relocated permanently to Naples, Florida, after the 2001 death of her husband Paul Andrew Distad. They had been married for 46 years.

She enjoyed her family, especially her daughters and 5 grandsons. She was very quick to make friends, and valued her time with them. She also maintained close and supportive friendships through the First United Methodist Church congregation. She worked the crossword puzzle on a daily basis, and amazed everyone with her vast knowledge of words and synonyms. She was a passionate reader; there wasn't a best seller in print that she hadn't read.

She is survived by her daughters, Jody Distad (Keith Greene), of Denver, CO; Becky Distad Rossi (Gregg) of Poland, OH; and Jane Distad, of Seattle, WA; brother, Richard Chambers (Grace) of Camp Hill, PA; grandsons Paul Hendrickson, Andrew and Matthew Rossi, and Dylan and Duncan Lee.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Chalfant, and her brother, Clyde Chambers.

Arrangements made by Hodges Funeral Home, Naples. Memorial services will be held August 15, 2013, 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church of Naples, Florida, followed by a reception in Barton Hall.
