Larry Lee Summers, 78, of Bonita Springs, FL passed away on November 16, 2016. He was born in Cincinnati, OH on March 15, 1938. Larry married Iokia Droll on February 14, 2004, and she survives. Larry served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He also played professional baseball in the Minor Leagues and he was unbeatable at baseball trivia.
Larry’s most memorable years were spent on his grandfather’s farm as a young boy. There he developed a passion for fishing and spent many hours on his bass boat as a young man. He also developed a passion for gardening, especially fruit trees which he had many at his home in Bonita Springs. Golf was his hobby, and he moved to Florida in 2005 so that he could play every day and watch others play from his home. Larry loved to sing and dance, he spent many hours with a microphone and karaoke machine entertaining. He was a great story teller and had a joke for all occasions.
Larry is survived by his wife Iokia Summers; children, Joseph Summers and Chris Summers; daughter-in-law, Ginger Summers; grandchildren, Nicole Summers, Phillip Summers, Matthew Summers, Jacob Summers, and Grace Summers; brothers Fred Summers and his wife Barbara, Jim Summers and Tom Summers. A Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 20th, 2016 from 10:30am-11:30am with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:30am at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens (525 111th Ave. N. Naples FL 34108). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation or the Salvation Army.
