Lance Allen Stahlman “Big Lance/Ol’ Boy” was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world unexpectedly on May 1, 2023.
Lance, a Naples native, was born to Russell and Charlene Arnold Stahlman on May 12, 1954. Charlene passed away when Lance was only two and Russell remarried a wonderful woman, Edriess Mackey Stahlman, who lovingly raised Lance and his sister, Shelley, as her own.
Lance graduated from Naples High School and was considered a Naples “Old Timer”. He met his beautiful wife on the white sandy beaches of Naples, and they married in 1983. Together they had two children, Lance II and David.
Lance loved flying model planes, building model boats and airplanes, collecting guns, talking politics, and anything and everything that had to do with speed boat racing. In addition to a few local restaurant establishments, his happy place was at “Apache Headquarters” assisting his brother Dean and the Stahlman Racing Crew with the Apache boat “Predator.”
Lance was the most generous person. He would start up a conversation with anyone and make sure his point was made, make friends with strangers who sometimes ended up buying his meal, and give you the last dollar out of his wallet. His stories were the best – they usually took more time than necessary and ended with everyone laughing.
Lance is survived by his wife Barbara Stahlman, sons Lance Stahlman II (Courtney) and David Stahlman (Karla), sister Shelley Stahlman (Allen Pickel), brothers Mark Stahlman (Joanne), Rusty Stahlman (Suzi), and Dean Stahlman (Kelly) along with many nieces and nephews. He had three grandchildren, Presley Stahlman (10), Lance III “Trey” Stahlman (8), and Beckett Stahlman (4) who loving referred to him as “Papa”.
Funeral arrangements will be held on, what would have been, his 69th birthday, Friday, May 12, 2023 at Hodges Funeral Home located at 525 111th Ave N., Naples, FL 34108. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm followed by a short service at 6:30 pm and reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the SER-FL-023 Naples Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol (CAP). 360 Aviation Dr. S., Naples, FL 34104. (239) 877-9977.
