February 1, 2021 in Fort Myers. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Gilda;
wife, Alice; and son, Martin, he is survived by his three daughters, Susan, Kathleen, and
Julie; his grand and great-grandchildren.
Ken attended Augustana College prior to proudly serving in the US Navy during World
War II. He spent the majority of his life in Chicagoland surrounded by close-knit friends
and family.
Ken's 50 years in the auto industry included time at Barrow Brothers in Oak Park, IL.
His entrepreneurial spirit motivated him to acquire the dealership transforming it into
Bennett Motor Sales. He served as President of the Chicago Automobile Dealers
Association and Chicago Auto Show. He was well respected by his peers, valued by his
employees, and served as a mentor to many.
Ken and his wife were passionate golfers and vibrant socializers at both Itasca CC in IL
and The Forest CC in FL. He loved fishing, traveling, playing cards, and attending Cubs,
Bears, and Blackhawks games. He was a master on the charcoal grill and perfected the
art of martini making.
Frank Sinatra, one of Ken’s favorites, described him/it best: “I’ve lived a life that’s full,
I’ve travelled each and every highway, and more, much more than this, I did it my way”.
He will be sorely missed.
A private service will be held for family. If desired, donations may be made in his honor
to Hope Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
