Josephine was born March 06, 1931, in Alexandria, Egypt. She is remembered for her elegance, passion, talent, kindness, and selfless acts. She spent her childhood years watching her father give food to those in need and continued to carry out selfless acts throughout her lifetime.
Josephine was loyal to her church and was deeply faithful in her practice. She attended the Coptic Orthodox church and dedicated to serving Christ throughout her lifetime. Josephine married at age 19 after meeting her husband, Fred. She was a devoted wife and mother of two daughters; Olivia and Dorothy.
In 1968, Josephine moved with her husband and two daughters from Egypt to the United States with a dream of opening a jewelry store and building a future. Her confidence, bravery and determination led her family to succeed in their dream. She was an integral part in the opening of Mitchell’s Jewelers in Arlington Heights. Shortly after, Josephine began a sales position at Marshall Fields in Schaumburg, IL. She spent 31 years impacting customers' experiences, and placing smiles on anyone she encountered. Josephine always lit up the room with her infectious laughter and beautiful smile.
Josephine was a role model to many with her ability to show the importance of strength and courage. She dedicated her life toward bringing happiness, security and stability to her family. She is remembered by many for her astounding Mediterranean cooking, as cooking was one of many ways she showed her love. She would spend hours at the beach, enjoying the ocean as it brought peace and love. After retirement, Josephine was able to explore her passion for travel while keeping her love for her family in mind. She was able to take several cruises and trips to Egypt and Australia where she was able to spend quality time with her three younger siblings, Madeline, Marcus, and Nabil. She was the strength and core of her family by offering unconditional love, words of strength and encouragement. Grandma Josephine adored her 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She consistently poured love, support, nurturing and wisdom into their lives on a daily basis.
Josephine has been called to heaven to be with God. Although we miss her every day, her beautiful laugh and uplifting spirit will live on and be with us forever. We will be honoring her and celebrating her fruitful life.
