It makes me very sad to hear about the passing of your dad. He was always so kind to me and I could not have had a better teammate for my first bowling team. I think of him every time I bowl. Having just lost my Dad, also a WW2 Navy vet, four days after his 90th birthday, I understand the incredible feeling of loss you and your family are feeling and I am so sorry. Eileen, Heather and Eileen,  I am sorry to hear of Joe's passing.  He was a gentle soul and will be missed.

To our Family, Joe was a great neighbor and a great friend, and part of our Family.  I have known Joe & Eileen for many, many years. I grew up across the street from them and ended up buying the house I grew up in and raising my Family there.
My Wife Susan and I were blessed to have known and enjoyed his friendship, his compassion, his hearty laugh and good humor. Joe was also a very generous man and would always be at the ready to help out with any project that was needed. He could seemingly fix almost anything.
As we brought 2 children into the world, Joe & Eileen became essentially another set of Grandparents to our boys. 
Joe was a hard-working man who had a profound love for his entire family and always gave them his best. He truly was one of The Greatest Generation, a rock-solid individual who you could always count on. 
By all accounts he lived a truly great life and will truly be missed by all, like us, who loved him. While his loss is to be mourned, his life should be celebrated!

Eileen - so sorry for your loss. Joe is in a beautiful place and will always be looking after you. He was such a wonderful person and a true gentleman.... always with a BIG smile.

I first met Joe, (or as I called him Mr. C), when I was 15-16. I was a punk kid who worked in a bowling alley. He always called me Joseph, (one of the VERY few), and always extended his hand when greeting me. I was lucky enough to become a friend of the family and had the pleasure of breading bread a few times. He never treated me like a punk kid or talked down to me, always made me feel welcome and comfortable. I remember being invited to go for dinner and dancing with the family and being nervous as hell not to look the fool or being disrespectful. Dinner was very pleasant and (thankfully) I didn't offend anyone. After dinner, we ACTUALLY went dancing, and not just slow song rocking back and forth dancing, ACTUAL DANCING. It was there I discover the man could really cut a rug. Between him and his lovely dance partner, they put everybody to shame, as for me, as well as I did during dinner, I made up for it in spades on the dance floor. (Sorry Heather)
One conversation we had I was asked if I ever read The Hunt for Red October. Back then I didn't read unless I had to, and after discussing it for a bit he suggested I should read it. Out of all the discussions we had I remember two things, first, I should read more, and second, I should have a blue suit. "Every man should own a blue suit"
To this day, I read as often as I can, and I do, in fact, own a blue suit.

Heather, I never had the privilege of meeting your dad, but he sounds like a wonderful person. My thoughts are with you and your family. I hope that despite all the pain and the tears, you're still able to smile at the memory of him. Sending much love and light.

Dear Twins and Mother of the Twins, I met Joe once in Union, we had spaghetti with meatballs, the best ever ! We did not talk much but I remember his shiny eyes. Big bisous to all of you.

Heather - You spoke of your father is such a fun loving way that when I met him I instantly felt how that was so true. I know you all will miss him greatly but feel his presence and support at every turn. Thinking of the Curcio's during this time.

Heather, my utmost condolences from my family to you, Eileen, your mom, and the rest of your family.  This is a man for which I had so much respect.  He's taught this Scottish/English/German kid (read that as made me) to eat spaghetti the proper way, with a fork and spoon.  I think the first, and last time, I tried tripe was because of him.  He was also the one who showed me it was cool to be a guy and be able to dance.  I wish you guys strength through the next few days and beyond that.  God bless.
