John was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, to Norine and John Kyle on January 16, 1943. He retired as Vice President and Treasurer of Imperial Oil Limited in 2008, after more than 30 years of service. Prior to his career at Imperial, he served as a professor at NYU and Northwestern University. After retirement, John and his wife Judy spent 12 summers on their boat Stella Maris cruising the Pacific Northwest, including Alaska.
Throughout his career and well into retirement, John volunteered on various boards and committees, including The Canadian Catholic Bioethics Institute. He was appointed by Pope John Paul II to the Council for the Economy of the Holy See, served as Chair of the International Auditors at the Vatican, was a member of The Order of Malta, and was a member of the Finance Committee at his church in Naples.
John is survived by his wife, Judith; daughters Heather Kyle (Nash Borges) and Marie Kyle (Kristof Kostencki); step-daughter Meaghan (Matt) Sioris; step-sons Liam (Siti) Sloane and Niall Sloane; grandchildren Axton, Garrett, and Sloane; his sister Catherine Kyle; nieces and nephew Michelle Querijero, Jennifer Birkenhead, Lisa Bennett, Kelly Detrick, and Christopher Tansey.
Funeral services will be held at St. William Catholic Church in Naples on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Support Network Naples or a charity of your choice.
