John M. Cooney died on Saturday, May 07, 2011 at the age of 96, surrounded by his family. Born Bronx, NY, son of the late John A. Cooney and Margaret Amman. Survived by his beloved children Richard J. Cooney (Kathleen) of Hawaii and Jane C. Dooley (Roger) of New York, six grandchildren, Patricia Rodriguez (Thomas) of Naples , Richard J. Cooney Jr. (Sylvia), Diane Carillo (Vincent), John M. Cooney (Carrie) of Naples , Kerri A. Bazylewicz (Michael) and James R. Dooley (Nicole). He also leaves behind 16 great grandchildren. John was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Jane A. Fischer, and wife of 19 years Amelia Cowdell Fischer and his sister Margaret Johansmeyer. He will also be greatly missed by Barbara A. Cooney of Naples. Visiting hours are Monday, May 9, 2011, 6 – 8 PM at Hodges Funeral Home, 525- 111th St. Naples, Florida. Catholic Mass and burial will be in Farmingdale, NY on Thursday, May 12, 2011.
