Jane was born at Deaconess Hospital, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 20, 1936. She went to see her Lord on July 18, 2017. She was a person who shared her talents in many ways. Jane was recognized for her decorative creations at Bentley Village especially in Building 31 and the Hobby Corner displays for many years.
Jane graduated from Hartford, Wisconsin High School and attended Normal School (now teachers college.) She taught elementary at various schools in the Milwaukee area, the first one being a first to eighth grade at a one room school.
She and her husband Jim moved to Naples in 1968. While in Naples she served on the board at Grace Place for Children and Families, the Church Council at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, and the Moorings Board of Directors. Jane was on the first and many thereafter visits with the Golden Apple Foundation. She also volunteered on several committees at Bentley.
Survivors include her husband, James (Jim) McLaughlin; daughters, Kathleen (Doug) Lyon and Mary (Hal) Prather; son, Patrick (Jana) McLaughlin; step-daughter, Linda (Fred) Buehler; brother, Guy Schoeni. Jane was the proud Grandma of Mariah (Nick) Lentz, Jane McLaughlin, Megan (Jason) Gould, William McLaughlin, Erin McLaughlin, John Lyon, Anna Prather, Grant Prather and great-grandson, James Gould.
A memorial service will be held in the Palmetto room at Bentley Village on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Grace Place for Children and Families, PO Box 990531, Naples, FL 34116, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 777 Mooring Dr, Naples, FL 34102 or a charity of donor’s choice.
