A life-long resident of Florida, Harley Daniel “Danny” Smith, the Son of Heyward Malcolm Smith and Gladys Louise (Butler) Smith raised in the small fishing town of Everglades City, FL. spent much of his early life hunting, camping and fishing the Ten Thousand Islands and the Florida Keys.
An adventurer at heart, after graduating from Everglades City High School, Danny set out to build a career with the US Military. Starting with a post in Saigon as a Military Police and on from there. He loved to travel and to share his experiences of the places he had seen and the people that he had met along the way with friends and family.
Danny was charming, intelligent and very handsome. He met and married Deborah Regina Ford in Montgomery, Tennessee on January 30, 1977, and had three beautiful children. Theodore “Teddy Bear” Jonathan Smith, Judith Elaine Smith and Kimberly Anne Smith.
Danny was a great cook and loved to fry up a big platter of lobster to enjoy with a good steak. He looked forward to early mornings with a cup of hot brewed coffee. He was a simple person who enjoyed the little things life had to offer.
Danny was predeceased by his Son, Theodore “Teddy Bear” Jonathan Smith, his Parents, Heyward and Gladys Smith, his Sister, Patricia (Patsy) Smith, his Brothers, Malcolm and Harvey Smith and Niece and Nephew, Vicki and Gordon.
He is survived by his Daughters Judith Elaine Smith and Kimberly Anne Smith, four Grandchildren, Jade, Brandon, Alexis and River and one Great Granddaughter, Lilliana Rose, several nieces and nephews, Gary, Keith and Sherry, Debbie and Cindy, and Harvey Jr. and will be missed by many.
We will celebrate his life on Thursday 11/03/2022 with visitation starting at 2:00 PM and the Funeral at 3:00 PM. Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens 525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108
