Geraldine was born March 30, 1931 in Detroit, MI to the late Walter Kuschel and Irene Sarbinowski.
Other than 9 years in Florida both in the St. Petersburg area and at the end of her life in Naples she lived her whole life in Michigan. She liked to travel. After moving back to Michigan from Florida, the family used to drive down to St. Petersburg Beach, Florida every year during spring break. The family also made numerous long trips to the western U.S by car during the summer staying in campgrounds. After the children were grown she made several trips with her husband to Europe visiting many countries. She used to say her favorite city in the world was Vienna, Austria. She also made several trips to the Pacific area visiting Hawaii several times, Tahiti, New Zealand and Australia. She enjoyed reading and drawing.
She lived in the same house in Garden City, Michigan for more than 50 years. Her full time job was raising her children and taking care of the home. Other than working as a secretary for a local stock broker before her marriage she never worked full time outside the home. She was married to the same person, Michael A. Dougan until his death for almost 50 years.
Survivors include: son Kevin M. Dougan, daughter Laurel M. Dougan, grandson Thomas P. Dougan, and granddaughter Katherine E. Dougan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael A. Dougan
There will be no visitation. Her cremated remains will be buried at sea in the Gulf of Mexico along with the cremated remains of her husband Michael A. Dougan on Dec. 9 as per her wishes with her immediate family in attendance.
