Frank L. Provenzano

Frank L. Provenzano, a resident of Naples, since 1978, passed away on October 11, 2016 at Avow Hospice. He was born in Floyd County, Kentucky on June 8, 1919, and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Phyllis T. Provenzano. They were married in Cincinnati, Ohio, on December 28, 1940.

He is survived by three daughters, Carol Smith (John), Bonnie Chrysler (Robert) and Margaret; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Frank worked for 41 years for the Baltimore & Ohio and Chessie System Railroads, retiring in 1978 as Assistant Vice President, Freight Sales. He served in Europe in World War II and participated in the invasion of France on June 6, 1944. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.

He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Bonita Springs, Florida. He served as elder, chairman of the finance committee, and chairman of the building fund drive for one of their major expansions. On October 9, 1994, he was elected an elder emeritus in recognition of his outstanding leadership and service. He loved to sing and was a member of the choir for many years.

He loved to travel, and with his wife visited over 30 countries, as well as much of the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Frank has been a resident of Bentley Village since 1995 and served as President of the Resident Council and on the Board of Directors of Bentley Village.

He loved to play golf and besides being a member of the Bentley Village Country Club, is a past member of the Royal Palm Country Club and Imperial Golf Club.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 476, Columbus, Ohio, for more than 60 years.

Frank believed the wonderful tributes paid to Phyllis at her memorial service thoroughly covered their wonderful life together. He therefore asked his service be private, with only immediate family present as he is laid to rest beside Phyllis.
