Ernest John Roberts (also known as Ernie and EJ), born April 13, 1928 to John and Mary Anastos, passed away on March 1, 2022 at 2:32pm the age of 93. He was born in Manhattan, New York. He was a snowbird for many years between New York and Spring Hill, Florida and had moved to Naples, Florida in 2018 to be closer to his daughter, Kim and her husband, Onkar after the passing of his wife, Libby.
On February 16th, Ernest suffered a stroke and could not recover. Up until this time, he was the most healthy, active person of that age. For those that knew him well, he was a daily exercise fanatic and always talked about how important it was to “keep moving”.
Ernest was a wonderful role model, husband, grandfather, uncle, godfather and friend. He was a curious learner and was full of life -- engaging, sharp and witty. He was quite a character. He was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, NY and Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. He was a veteran and served during World War II in Japan. He had an amazing work ethic which inspired many others through a long and successful career. He was an avid investor and a keen observer of the stock market. CNBC was his favorite entertainment. He could tell you play by play what was happening each day. Ernest was an amazing golfer, gardener, loved to read history books, and also loved a great game of cards.
In his heavenly rest, he joins his wife Libby, his sisters Grace, Helen, Ann and Margaret, and his niece, Mary Ebbets. He is survived by his daughter, Kim M. Sharan, her husband Onkar Sharan, his granddaughter, Dr. Lauren Sharan Ranard and her husband, Dr. Benjamin Ranard.
He will be missed dearly. May his Memory be Eternal.
Services will take place on March 9th, 2022 at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church (7100 Airport Pulling North, Naples, FL 34109) with a Visitation from 9am-10am and a Funeral Service to follow at 10am.
