Eleanor Marie Muchmore passed away peacefully on December 8, 2023. Eleanor was born in Moulton, Alabama to the late, Walter Henry, and Jennie Bunneta (Hadley) Porter on September 30, 1926. She grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating from Sycamore High School and went on to graduate from Wilmington College in 1948. The same year she married the late Elza Dick. The couple divorced 14 years later and she finished raising her 4 children as a single mother while working as an Editor at South Western Publishing Co. She married the late Thomas Biggart in 1976. The couple divorced in 1989. She was married to Ivan Muchmore in January of 1997. After she retired from Southwestern Publishing, she became a Financial Planner. She was an accomplished and respected businesswoman, who won many awards, including Businesswoman of the Year.
Eleanor could light up a room with her smile. She was vivacious, adventurous, and loved being around other people. Eleanor loved to travel and was an avid reader. She was a woman of profoundly dedicated faith. She served and even chaired practically every committee at Cincinnati Friends Meeting while living in Cincinnati. She was loved by all her church in Florida, Hope City Church.
The joy of the Lord was her strength and was evident to everyone she met. Her family is celebrating the wonderful life she lived and the joy that is her reward in heaven with her Lord. How glorious it must have been to be greeted in heaven with the words of our Heavenly Father, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21
She is preceded in death by her parents Walter Henry and Jennie Bunneta (Hadley) Porter, her brothers, Virgil (Ruby), and Herschel {Angela) Porter. She is survived by her children Henry (Donna) Dick of Cincinnati, OH, Nola Hadley-Torres (Sarah Lyn) of Union City, CA, Paul (Shirley) Dick of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Barbara (Tim) Miller of Weaverville, NC.; 12 grandchildren, Kelley Jalomo, Christopher Dick, Henry Dick III., Julie Dick, Jennie Nickel, Jeremy Dick, Jordan Dick, Michael Washburn, David Washburn, Jaimie Dandridge, Rosemarie Martinez, Priscilla Torres; and 32 great grandchildren; and 10 great, great grandchildren. She leaves a legacy of Love and Faith, and will be greatly missed by all that know her.
A visitation for Eleanor will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, Florida 34108.
