Dear Marie, Michele and family,
I am keeping you in my prayers and wish you strength and peace as you mourn the loss of your dear Eddie.   May he Rest In Peace and rise in glory and may light perpetual shine upon him.   Love to you all.  Ned.  

I have many warm memories of Eddie and his sense of humor.  He loved to try to beat his brother Charlie to picking up the bill from the waiter.  And he liked to tease Elsie about playing the slot machines.  He took joy in taking care of his "girls"......Re, Michele and Elsie.  Only Eddie could tease his nephew Robbie non-stop about the Yankees and get away with it.  I can still hear him saying "Bet?" No one made a pan of Zitti that tasted as good as Eddie's, or weighed as much. And leave it to Eddie to sneak across the country to surprise his brother Charlie for his 40th birthday. Eddie was loving, caring, reliable, funny, smart, always taking care of people, and the one who got things done. And no one could find a parking place in New York City as well as Eddie. His laugh will always live in our hearts.

Dear Marie and Michelle,
Please know how sorry I am to hear about Eddy. He was a wonderful person and had a quick wit, especially when faced with life's hurdles. I loved hearing about his time in the military, and remember him giving me guidance during Irma. Most of all, it was clear how deeply he cared for you both. Peace be with you always.

 I am so very sorry for your loss. My family and I are praying that God grant you peace and comfort during this time. I love  you all dearly. Rest In Peace Eddie, and thank you for all the bits of wisdom you shared with me over the years....Love, Alice & family 

I am very honored to be a friend of Michele. And though I did not have the privilege of knowing Mr. Schaffer personally, Michele has shared so many stories about him.  In witnessing how Michele moves through the world and engages with people -how caring and thoughtful and funny she is - I can see Mr. Schaffer very clearly.

My husband and I send our deepest condolences to Michele, Mrs. Shaffer and all of their family and friends of Mr. Schaffer.


I remember the first time I met “Marie’s Eddie”  from next door. ... you were everything  Marie said you were. You will always be Rie’s Eddie & Michele’s loving daddy.

Sending love and prayers to Marie, Michele and Charly. My few years shared with Eddie taught me a great deal about how much he meant to his family, and how honored I was to become a member of it. Even though he was perceived as "a tough dude", his generosity and way of sharing were always "over the top" statements for all of us: A master of good laughs, wise words and esplendid meals, but also a gentleman who was able to step up to the plate while navigating the ups and downs that life put in front of him; all for the people he loved the most. I will always regret not sending your cookies on time, but I have to make sure I bring a good batch with me when the time to meet again comes... I hope you let me in... Lol...
