He was born in Trenton, NJ to Isaac and Anna Levy. He graduated from Trenton High School and the University of Pennsylvania. He was the former owner of The Greenwood Theater in Trenton and The Lawrenceville Tennis Shop. Edgar earned his USPTA certification and taught tennis lessons for many years. He won numerous tennis tournaments throughout his life. He retired to Naples in 1980 where he then began teaching senior citizens the game of tennis.
Edgar was a humble and kind man. His thirst for gaining new knowledge enabled him to learn to use the iPad at the age of 91. He touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tracey Roth, who provided outstanding medical care to Edgar for many years. And also a special thank you to the PGA Superstore for their kindness and companionship to Edgar in his final years.
Edgar is survived by his wife of 49 years Nancy; his daughters Sandra (William) Wolverton, Wendy Levy and Connie (Mitchell) Kinstler; grandchildren Scott, Michael, Craig Wolverton, Ryan Leben, Sydney, Tiffany, Robert, Steven Campbell and Paige and Jill Kinstler; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Edgar was preceded in death by his brothers Irvin and Leon and sister Estelle Owens.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105.
