Dorie was born in North Braddock Pa. in 1928 to the late Duncan McAllister Kemerer and Edith Mae Wood. She was bold, independent and adventurous. She went to New York City as a young woman in 1951 to write the great American novel and worked as a copy editor at a major magazine while she was there.
Dorie had many adventures with her sister, Ruth. They traveled to Cuba and then moved to California. But after a short while, John DeStefano, the love of her life, flew to California to purpose to her. She returned to Murrysville PA to get married and raise her family. They had two wonderful Children, Mia DeStefano and John Christian DeStefano (Doreen DeStefano). She later retired to Florida, a place she dearly loved.
Survivors include: Mia DeStefano and John Christian DeStefano (Doreen DeStefano) and her many grandchildren: Brianna DeStefano, John Charles DeStefano and Aaron DeStefano, Aeden DeStefano, Kayla DeStefano, John Christian DeStefano Jr. and Jacob DeStefano; sister: Ruth Kemerer and nephew: Eric Kemerer.
She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Duncan McAllister Kemerer and Edith Mae Wood, as well as her brother, Ronald Lloyd Kemerer.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108.
