Born in Queens, NY on May 19, 1943, she was the loving daughter of the late William and Alma Duerr. One of three children, Diane and her siblings shared a loving bond throughout their lives.
Diane graduated from Babylon High School, Deer Park Long Island New York in 1961. She went on to graduate with a degree in Psychology and Physical Education from Old Dominion University, Norfolk Virginia in 1965. She took great pride in raising her 2 children with her husband Robert Edward. After his passing, she continued her 25 year career as an educator in Physical Education at Cromwell Middle School in Cromwell, CT. Her many years teaching were accompanied by coaching soccer, basketball, softball, track and many different after school club sports. Her smile and undeniable energy were reveled and remembered by the many students, parents and faculty in the town of Cromwell.
Over her storied career in teaching and coaching she developed many dear friends. As her family continued to grow, her 5 grandchildren quickly became the highlights of her life. She enjoyed watching the kids grow and loved being a “coach” from the sidelines at sporting events and visits to Grammy/Nana’s house were the best! She cherished every moment with family and friends. She especially loved her home and community in Naples Florida.
After 15 years in the Cedar Hammock Community it was clear she had found her people. With her devoted and cherished friends, she enjoyed, golf, canasta, volunteering at the Women’s shelter, lunch by the pool, and dinners at the club. Everyone enjoyed her infectious smile and her giving way about her was undeniable. The saying giving the shirt of her back was never more than embodied than by Diane. Her generous and giving ways will be remembered by all fondly.
Beloved wife of the late Robert Edward Lambert. Devoted mother of Robert William and his wife Yanina of Stuart, FL, and Kerri Anne and her husband Eric of North Attleboro, MA. Cherished Grammy/Nana of Mason, Téa, Victoria, Luca, and Leo. Loving sister of Bill and his wife Carolyn of Yakima WA, and Joyce Swilling of Cromwell CT. Loving Aunt to Ron, Kristy, Ryan and Jordan.
A special thanks to all her friends who blessed Diane with care, compassion and friendship for many years. Diane would want all to live for today and always be happy.
