Charlie Daniel Williams, 74, of Naples, Florida passed away on April 26, 2019, after a battle with liver cancer. He was born on October 27, 1944 in Varnado, Louisiana to William Henry and Mary Alma (Bradley) Williams.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by three sisters; Barbara Faye Smith of Rio Rancho, NM, Claudia Bush, of Liberty, MO, and Mary (Richard) Sleightholm of Kansas City, MO, also his four brothers; Henry Williams of Chauvin, LA, David (Wilma) Williams of Osceola, MO, and Tom (Hazel) Williams of Osceola, Mo, and Joe (Donna) Williams of Spring Hill, TN.
Charley, or “Chuck” was loved and respected by his entire family and that was reciprocated by him. One great-nephew who had stayed with Chuck a few years ago mentioned recently, “my stay with him was short, but Chuck was like a father to me. He was the strongest and kindest man I have ever met. He once told me “you do anything for family”. As I learned yesterday while passing on his fishing tips to my grandson, his lessons will reverberate through me until I meet him again in the presence of Jesus Christ.”
He served his country during the Vietnam conflict and was honorably discharged from the US Air Force. He had lost the love of his life, Diana Louise Bristow, a few years ago after they were together nine years but stayed close with her family which he considered his family and they stayed close to him. Stepchildren are Heather, Tim, Samuel and Rhonda. Heather’s daughters; Katy and Brenna considered him their grandfather and he loved them as much as any grandfather would.
At Charlie’s request, he will be laid to rest at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL. A Memorial Service will be held in Sarasota at a later date.
