Catherine Kuzmishin of Naples, Florida died Sunday, October 2, 2022. She was born in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, graduated from Mount Carmel High School and The Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She practiced in Philadelphia as a Registered Nurse until her marriage to Dr. George Kuzmishin in 1957.
Upon her marriage, she resided in Akron, Ohio where Dr. Kuzmishin was in surgical residency and private practice. It was there that she raised her family and spent the next 36 years before retiring to Naples.
Catherine was a past President of the Summit County Medical Alliance, a member of the Gavel Club, a volunteer at Akron City Hospital and Mobile Meals. Since 1976, she was a participant in the Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital Nurses’ Health Study.
After retiring to Naples, Catherine was a volunteer Reading Partner with Collier County Public Schools and a member of the Pelican Bay Women’s League.
Catherine was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Olive Gable.
Catherine’s survivors include her husband of 65 years George, her sister Marcia Steeleman, her brother Richard Gable (Patricia), daughters Karen Crown and Lisa Humes (Richard), son John Kuzmishin (Janet Harrison), grandchildren Richard Humes, Peter Crown, Patrick Humes (Ashley), William Crown, Alexandra Nagy (Dwight), Gwendolyn Kuzmishin, Catherine Kuzmishin, Rachel Kuzmishin, Samuel Kuzmishin and great granddaughter Briar Kay Humes.
Services will be private and held in Naples, FL.
