Brian was raised in Millbury, MA, graduating from Millbury High School, and later from UMass Amherst. He began his career as a physical education teacher and retired after a long career at NSTAR (Eversource). While working as a summer camp counselor on Cape Cod, he met Carol Yandow, who became his wife of nearly 52 years. Together they made a remarkable team and raised their three sons, Ethan, Jesse, and Adam in Harwich Port.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Joan (Cleary) Lucas, and his sister, Charlene Grenier. His surviving siblings are Barbara Lavallee, Gary Lucas, Mary Ann Vecchione, Freddy Lucas, and Tommy Lucas. Brian has two grandchildren, Bahia Ejan-Lucas and Liam Lucas, and a large extended family.
There was no one like Brian. He believed deeply in the value of hard work and there was very little he couldn't fix with his two hands and the right tools. Nothing made him light up more than his family. We will remember him proudly for the incredible example he set for his three boys, his warm, welcoming smile, and the genuine caring and kindness he showed every day.
His family and friends will gather privately in the summer to celebrate Brian and his well-lived life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Avow (avowcares.org), a hospice service provider in Naples, FL or ILDC (ildcollaborative.org), a patient-physician collaborative for the understanding, management, and treatment of interstitial lung diseases.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hodgesfhatnaplesmg.com for the Lucas family.
