Born March 17, 1928, in Chicago, to Fred and Carolina (nee Baratta) Chiappetta, Alex was a foreman for Miller Davis and worked many years there. He was injured on the job which led to his early retirement. Alex and his late wife Jennie moved to Naples in 1990 and have called it their home ever since. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Alex was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, St. William Council #10757 and St. William Assembly #3020. Alex was in charge of the Color Corps and head chef for the Knights functions. Alex was in charge of the kitchen for all the dinner parties and pancake breakfasts. These events were a hot ticket in Naples and were consistently sold out. The money generated helped to build a new kitchen for St. William along with the ability to donate to many local charities.
Alex loved to dance and was very good at it. He and his late wife were fondly referred to as “Fred and Ginger,” and for all they were the hit at weddings and any event that had dancing. When his wife passed, Alex joined the Fred Astaire Dance Club, participating in dance contests all over the country and winning numerous dancing awards.
He is survived by his children, Dan (Beth) Chiappetta of Elmhurst, Carol Jean (Glen) Krecker of Galena, and Fred (Debbie) Chiappetta of Cape Coral; his grandchildren, Christopher (Melissa) Krecker and Michelle (Dan) Craig, Rachel and Joey Chiappetta; his great grandchildren, Lucas, Gavin and Elena Krecker, and Sedona Craig. Alex was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Jennie; sisters, Yolanda Simone and Mary Tokarz; brothers, Joseph, James, Edward and Frank.
