Bill (William Fred) Bradley was born in Vancouver, BC on January 15th, 1943 to William and Anne Bradley. In his younger years Bill was active in sports, the Boy Scouts of Canada and in high school Bill and his friends started the Strokers Car Club which he was active in for many years. In 1967 Bill moved to Victoria to work for Auto Electric, and a year later transferred to Nanaimo. Following that transfer, Bill worked in the heavy truck industry all over Vancouver Island, finally retiring from Nanaimo Mack in 2010.
Throughout his life Bill had many hobbies, including bowling, skiing and curling. He also loved camping and hunting all over BC, bringing home the ever popular Moose which was enjoyed at family meals in the Drake Street home for many years. Bill spent over a decade volunteering with the RCMP Bicycle Drill Team to which both Jason and Gavin both belonged.
On September 1st 1990, Bill married Lorna. Together, they made lots of trips to different parts of the world, but particularly enjoyed the long trips in the camper up to Alaska, which they did several times with friends, and they also spent some winters down south.
In 2018 they sold their home on Drake street and downsized to Resort on the Lake. They have met many great friends in the park and our family is very grateful for the care and attention Bill and Lorna received, both before and after Bill’s passing.
Bill passed away peacefully on October 15th, 2023 in Nanaimo, surrounded by family. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Anne and Bill, and is survived by his wife Lorna Bradley, sons Jason (wife Kari, their children Jack and Grace), Gavin (wife Jennifer, their children Maddy and Ethan), Steven (wife Lisette, their children Emma, Nicolas and Phillip) and his sister Bev (husband Mitch) as well as many other extended family members and friends.
A heartfelt thanks to the staff in the NRGH ICU; their care and compassion made Bill’s short stay there much easier him and our family.
There will be a celebration of life on Sunday November 19th @ Bowen Social Center 500 Bowen Road Nanaimo at 2pm which will be followed by light refreshments.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Nanaimo SPCA where Bill was a member, and spent countless hours in the dog park with his beloved DeeDee
