Olive E. Webber, age 95, of Nanaimo, BC passed away on July 31, 2019 at Eden Gardens, Nanaimo. She was born in Thorhild, AB on June 8, 1924 to Leo and Mary Sprenkle. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Howard Webber, her children, Wayne Somers (PEI), Carolyn Somers (PEI), Wendie Webber (Nanaimo), Paul Webber (Kelowna), her sister Marge Smith (Nanaimo), and several generations of grandchildren.
Olive attended Rosedale, Popkum (Bridal Falls), and Duncan schools, completing grade 12 by correspondence and 1st year university (English) in White Rock. She loved literature and writing, especially poetry.
Her first job was in a Vancouver restaurant. Her first car, a blue 1928 Ford Model A, at age 16. She was first married to Wallace Charles Somers in 1940. Her second marriage was in 1954 to Howard Lionel Webber. She worked at People's Credit Jewelers, then as a homemaker raising children.
After the children left home she entered into a new career as a highly successful realtor with Block Bros. Real Estate. She was a founding member of Unity of Nanaimo who held to the dream of founding a spiritual center based in Unity principles.
A Celebration of Life was held August 10, 2019 at Unity Spiritual Center of Nanaimo. She asked that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to Unity of Nanaimo, the Unitarian Service Committee of Canada, or the charity of your choice.
