A true patriarch, Mike, 63, leaves behind a legacy of love as the adored husband of Kathy, the cherished father of sons Ryan and Trevor, and the doting grandfather of little Beau. His familial embrace extends to his brothers, Rob and Joe, in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
Mike's journey, born abroad in the UK to making Nanaimo his home, showcases a diverse and vibrant life.
It was during Mike's formative years that his life took a beautiful turn, as he crossed paths with his soulmate, his wife, Kathy, and their love story unfolded, and their unconditional support for one another became an integral part of each other's lives.
It is clear Mike lived a rich and fulfilling life, leaving a positive impact on his family, friends, and community. His passion for sports, particularly basketball and later golf, highlights his dedication to both physical activity and building lasting connections with others. The connections made both locally and internationally, demonstrated the lasting impact of his friendly personality and charisma. His commitment to volunteering and coaching further underscores his selflessness and desire to contribute to the well-being of those around him.
It is evident that Mike's family was a central focus in his life, and his support for his sons' endeavours, whether in basketball or BMX, showcased in his unwavering dedication to their success and happiness.
His 40-year career with the Nanaimo Port Authority, starting as a summer student and rising to the position of Chief Operations Officer, underscores his dedication and hard work.
