Mary Ellen Sheridan (Roberts) nee Banasky

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandma (Gippy), Great Grandma and Aunty. Mary Ellen passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 22, 2021.

Predeceased by her parents, George Banasky and Hettie Morgan and her sister Vel Cassell. Mary Ellen is survived by her beloved husband Warren, daughter Leanna Maltesen (Doug), sons Eddy Roberts (Mignonne) and Mike Roberts (Janet), brother George Banasky, stepchildren Heather Petecky and Mellissa Sheridan (Roland), plus many adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends.

Mary Ellen was born and lived her life in Nanaimo, BC. She was very close with her three children. Mary Ellen enjoyed her years working at Woodgrove Manor and continued her passion for caring for others even after her retirement. Mary Ellen enjoyed her bingo nights and loved playing a game of cards with family and friends.

In April 2018, Mary Ellen met her soulmate, Warren. Together they backpacked through Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. Shortly after, on June 8, 2019, they married in Chemainus, BC. They also took a two-month trip across Canada to visit Warren’s family and attend a wedding in Nova Scotia. They also travelled to Mexico in 2020 where they spent two months relaxing and were later joined by family.

Mary Ellen’s faith and sense of humour never once waivered throughout her courageous battle.
