Lyle Burns passed away peacefully on March 28, 2023 with his loving wife Caron by his side after a long journey with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Lyle was predeceased by his son Patrick Burns in 2016. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 56 years, Caron, his daughter Janice Mattu (Blaine), his grandchildren, Ryan, Bailey (Charlie), Coulson, Gracie and Jackson, great-granddaughter Navy, and many extended friends and family.
Lyle was born and raised in Nanaimo and spent his career as a millwright at Harmac and advocated for his coworkers as vice-president of PPWC Local 8. Lyle was a member of the Doric Lodge No. 18 for many years.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Oyster Harbour Lodge in Ladysmith for their compassion and care of Lyle over the past 9 months.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 11am at First Memorial, 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
