Loved by everyone, Jack will be remembered for his easy going, kindhearted and well humored spirit. Jack had a unique gift of being able to bring a smile to all his family and friends along with whoever crossed his path.
Jack had two passions in life: Flying & Sailing. It was Jack’s greatest joy in finding tranquility gliding along the water and exploring the sea. Jack met his wife of 47 years, Diane, teaching flying lessons at the Edmonton Flying Club where he taught for many years.
They are together now.
Jack’s battle with pancreatic cancer was inspirational. It highlighted his endurance and courage while facing harsh times. He did it all with a smile. Throughout his illness, Jack rarely complained and was committed to living life to the fullest.
As a Father, Jack was like an anchor in rough water – always offering thoughtful solutions and advice, followed by a good joke, of course.
As we remember Jack, we celebrate his laughter, his quick wit, intelligence, leadership and kindness.
WE LOVE YOU TO THE MOON DAD!
Always & Forever
“May the seas lie smooth before you. May a gentle breeze forever fill your sails. May sunshine warm your face and kindness warm your soul.”
We are sincerely grateful to Jack’s many friends who provided him with companionship and comfort over the last year.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Lindsay Eggen and all of the nurses and staff at the NRGH Palliative Care Unit for their constant and attentive treatment.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Junior Sailing Program at the Nanaimo Yacht Club to help inspire the next generation of sailors.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church - 301 Machleary Street, Nanaimo, BC V9R 2G8 - on Thursday, October 5th at 1:30pm.
