Gilberta Maria Costa

Gilberta Maria Costa was 75 years old. She currently lived in Nanaimo, BC, Canada. Gilberta passed away peacefully on January 31, 2021. Gilberta was born in Sao Miguel, Acores Portugal on September 7th of 1945.

Gilberta was the loving wife of the late Manuel Gata. Gilberta was the daughter of the late Rosa Maria and Joao Gallego. Gilberta is survived by her children: Luisa Medeiros (spouse Francisco) of Nanaimo BC, Ana Medeiros of Montreal QC and Pedro Medeiros (wife Maria) of Montreal QC. Her step son: Eduardo Gata (wife Judite and their children Paula and Dave) of Winnipeg MB. Her grandchildren: Priscilla, Lisa, Brian, Sabrina, Sara, Patricia, Catarina and Cristina; great grandchildren: James and Trevor. Gilberta's siblings: Francisco, Paulo, Mario, Susana, Lidia and the late Victor, Jose and Joao and several nieces and nephews.

Gilberta was full of life and her contagious smile would light up a room, she enjoyed everything about gardening and the outdoors but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved dancing and listening to music especially Portuguese fados and the sounds of flutes. She loved being around her dogs and was always amused by their actions. Gilberta was loved by many family and friends, her genuine kindness and joyfulness will be missed by all. Gilberta's memory will forever live in our hearts and her love will light our way.

A memorial service for Gilberta Costa will be held on February 14th, 2021 at 10:00am by Zoom.
