George died peacefully in his sleep at home at the age of 83. His loss is deeply felt by his family: wife Liz (of 55 years), four children Ted (Cathy) Doug (Vanessa), Denis (Nancy) and Shawn (Andrew) and six grandchildren Ayden Holme, Brendan Holme, Mya Holme, Caitlin Holme, Trevor Holme and Adrianna Heine, brother Don (Marcie) and family.
Born in Vancouver, he moved to Qualicum Beach at age 15. An avid sportsman, he was a charter member of the Qualicum Curling Club and served the Qualicum Beach Volunteer Fire as Lieutenant.
Nanoose became the family home in 1968, and he became very active in community affairs. A butcher by trade, he was the first Chief of the Nanoose Volunteer Fire Department in 1972 and served for 10 years when he took on the role as Regional Director for Nanoose. He served for 29 years retiring in 2014.
George will be greatly missed by his many family members, friends and colleagues. There will be no service at George’s request.
