Edward A. N. Surry

Edward (Ed) Surry passed peacefully on March 10, 2025. He was survived by his children Clint Surry(April), Victoria Surry and his grandchildren Liam Surry, Aurora Surry, Jacob Surry and Katelyn Surry. Ed was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Shirley Surry and his brother Bill Surry.

Ed was born in Saskatchewan and moved to BC where he met Shirley in high school. He was an avid volunteer in many organizations including scouting, police auxiliary, helping seniors with taxes, helping with immunization clinics, and elections etc. He began working in the mill as a young person, and then transitioned to Canada Post where he gained his Accounting certification and worked as a financial officer, an auditor and a post master.

He was active for many years with the Sunshine Club in Port Alberni and participated in the Senior Games in lawn bowling. He also enjoyed floor curling and curling. He loved watching baseball and hockey. He also was very proud of his children and grandchildren.

Thank you to the staff at Age Care Malaspina and Wexford Creek Seniors Community for caring for him over the past few years.

A celebration of life will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the BC Children’s Hospital.
