Born on July 27, 1921 in Glasgow, died on September 25, 2016 in Nanaimo, BC.
Mum was the last of her generation of Warrens and MacKenzies and lived a long and full life. She experienced the Depression, World War II, and migration and was made stronger by them. Finishing school at fourteen, she went to work in a factory and worked in factories until she was 65 when she retired from Philco/Ford in Toronto. She was a strong willed and determined woman with a ready smile and laugh. Mum immigrated to Ontario with her family in 1966 then moved to BC in 1988. During most of the next 28 years, Mum enjoyed travelling abroad and on the Island, and community activities with craft groups, the Newcomers Club, and the Walk Around the Clock group.
Agnes was predeceased by husband John in 1990 and survived by daughter Irene (Al), sons Ken (Maggie), Richard (Jeanette), and Doug (Tina). She is also survived by grandchildren Yvonne, Iain, Mike, Jon, Natasha, and Fraser, and great-grandsons Deniz and Lochlun. Agnes leaves nieces and nephews in the UK, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Ottawa in particular Helen (Jack) in Scotland and Joan (Douglas) in England.
The family would like to thank staff at Longlake Chateau, VIHA, and Nanaimo Seniors Village whose compassion, generous spirits and many kindnesses made her declining years richer and more comfortable. Thanks also to Anne Marie Dryden and John Hryhorka.
