Mr. William E. Murrell Jr. passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Lexington Place in Nacogdoches, Texas, at the age of 94. Creative and generous with a sharp sense of humor, W.E. was beloved by His family, friends and everyone who knew him.
Born November 6, 1920, in Shreveport, Louisiana, W.E served his country with the U.S. Army Airforce during World War II. Flying over 50 combat missions, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for bravery in combat. W.E worked for Gulf Oil Company and Northern Natural Gas as well as owning His own Tiffini lampshade business. Very creative, he was always learning, even taking banjo lessons in his 80’s.
W.E. was a longtime resident of Houston, Texas, before relocating to Nacogdoches, Texas, in his later years.
He was married to the love of his life, Mae Gimbert for over 70 years. She preceded him in death on September 11, 2014.
His survivors include his daughter, Sharon Rasmussen of Nacogdoches, Texas; son, Bill Murrell and wife Mignon of Houston, Texas; grandsons, Stephen Rasmussen and Adam Rasmussen; and great-grandchildren, Jesse Rasmussen, Joshua Rasmussen, John Rasmussen, Jodie Rasmussen, Josiah Rasmussen, and Jaden Rasmussen.
The viewing/visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 26 from 12:30 to 1:30 at the American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Houston, Texas.
This will be followed by the graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at the Houston National Cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. Jack Albright.
