Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. A private interment will take place at Old Shiloh Cemetery near Mount Enterprise, Texas.
He was born November 13, 1914, in the Sulphur Springs community of Rusk County, Texas, to parents Jacob and Dollie (Coston) McCrary. He was a graduate of Cushing High School and later obtained an accounting degree from Tyler Commercial College.
Mr. McCrary was a World War II veteran, serving 1941-1945 with U.S. Army Air Corps. He had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant when he was discharged.
He and Claire Grisham were married May 12, 1945. After 66 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on November 15, 2011.
Mr. and Mrs. McCrary lived in Orange, Texas, for over 30 years. He retired from DuPont in 1979 as a maintenance mechanic. Following retirement, they moved to Nacogdoches, Texas.
In Nacogdoches, he had been an active member of North Street Church of Christ as well as the Evening Lions Club.
His survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Janis McCrary of Kingwood, Texas; three granddaughters, Jennifer McCrary, Jessica Prosser, Jana McCrary; a grandson, Jimmy McCrary; a sister, Lois Holmes; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
