Mrs. Adkins was born April 29, 1927, in Angelina County, Texas, to parents William Maynard Franklin and Vonnie Driver Franklin. She had formerly lived in the Houston and Nacogdoches areas before returning to Angelina County a few years ago. Mrs. Adkins retired as a switchboard operator and also worked with her husband owning a peach orchard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion "Bill" Adkins, in 1997; along with her parents and all siblings.
Her survivors include a step-son, Michael Murphy Adkins; step-daughter, Deborah Ann Crawford; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Sunset Memorial Park, Nacogdoches, with Dr. Regina Morris officiating.
