Herman Thomas Power, Jr., 91, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away November 10, 2023. He was born to parents Herman Thomas and Rose (Jordan) Power on March 1, 1932 in Nacogdoches, Texas. He graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1949 and upon graduation he attended Stephen F. Austin where he received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a corporal during the Korean War Conflict. After his honorary discharge from the Army, he moved to Venezuela and worked for Gulf Oil Company as a mud engineer working in Venezuela and Spain. It was there that he met the love of his life, Wanda. They were married on November 29, 1958. Together they raised two children, Gregory Thomas Power and Frank Jordan Power. In 1964 they returned to Nacogdoches, Texas and took over the family business “Herman Power Tire Service”. Tom lived life to its fullest, he was an avid hunter and angler, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Lake Murvaul, water skiing and fishing. When his boys were young he served as the Commissioner of Nacogdoches Youth Baseball. Tom and Wanda were avid travelers, visiting the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Those left to cherish his memory include sons, Greg Power and wife Carol, and Frank Power and Nicole; grandchildren, Paul Power, Analise Power-Sanford, husband Jeremy and their child, great grandson Chief Sanford, Blake Power, Randa Martinez, and Erica Smith; nephew Hunter Scott Thompson of Peoria AZ. nieces, Brenda van der Dys, and Marcy van der Dys; nephews, Richard van der Dys Jr., Andres van der Dys, and Otto van der Dys III. Lifelong friend and “brother” Harry Webster. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Rose Power; sister, Marceleete Power Thompson; and wife, Wanda Lucia Power.
His family would like to especially thank Dr. James Redfield, Dr. Chris Klingenberg, Dr. Cengiz Satir with Heart To Heart Hospice, as well as Nurse Patty Rogers, Mercedes Jordan and Jan Holmes for the excellent and compassionate care they each provided.

A graveside service for Herman will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 3:30 PM at Sunset Memorial Park, Nacogdoches, Texas. Officiating will be Mr. Bailey McLain.
